Airblast or compression blast is a mechanic for all of the Arsonist's primaries. It is a puff of air that can reflect (or destroy with the Phlogistinator) projectiles, push away enemies and extinguish teammates from fires. It can be done by clicking MOUSE 2. If the Arsonist extinguishes a teammate from a fire, the player will be awarded 50 health and one point, unless the Arsonist is using the Phlogistinator, where the airblast will not affect them at all.
Airblasts, when used, cost the Arsonist varying amounts of ammunition:
- The Flamethrower, Interceptor, and Phlogistinator cost 20 ammo units per airblast.
- The Degreaser costs 25 ammo units per airblast.
- The HuangLong's Wrath costs 3 ammo units per airblast, relative to the weapon's reduced ammo capacity of 30.
Reflection[]
Reflected projectiles are essentially stopped and fired again from Arsonist's current position to prevent the user and their teammates from being injured or dying; if an enemy is near the user, the reflected projectile will automatically travel towards them. If the reflected projectile hits an enemy, it will deal mini-crit damage.

These are the following projectiles that can be deflected by the Arsonist:
- Rockets (i.e. Sentry rockets, energy blast)
- Grenades/cannonballs
- Stickybombs (cannot be airblasted right away when the projectile is on mid-air)
- Baseballs and baubles
- All bottled-liquid projectiles, such as Mad Milk, Lemonade
- Hatchets
- Flares
- Energy orbs
Projectile weapons from the Doctor, Huntsman, Rescue Ranger, and Personal Death Ray are unable to be reflected by airblast.
Grenades and baseballs are not naturally given any additional vertical velocity when they are reflected. Aiming these reflected projectiles is more difficult, however they must be reflected upward in order to arc as they do when fired normally.
Tips[]
- Crowded areas and objectives are a recommended blast zone.
- If possible, hide behind a wall near an area that is being spammed with projectiles, as airblasts can go through walls due to not having a line-of-sight check. This lets you protect yourself and your team while not putting yourself in danger.
- Adopt the mindset of the class type that fired the projectile you are reflecting.
- You can airblast enemies in the air, ignite them, and use your Flare Gun to finish them off in the air.
