The Amputator is a melee weapon for Doctor. It is a large team-colored bone saw.
While deployed, it regenerates the user's health by up to +4 hp per second (+2 hp minimum). When the user taunts, it will heal all nearby allies, which also counts towards the SuperCharge meter. However, it deals 20% less damage and holsters 50% slower.
It is useful for escaping and healing when there are no options nearby, as the user can defend themselves while actively gaining health. However, the weapon deal less damage and thus it's better off not engaging enemies.

Tips[]
- Don't be afraid to stop healing your teammates for a few seconds to heal with the Amputator. You can only heal your teammates if you're alive, so unless someone requires immediate healing (via burn or bleed), start healing.
- At the same time, don't overuse it. Healing your teammates is your job as a Doctor, so don't use it to top off your health, as it takes a few seconds for it to reach 4 health a second, and you'll be better off using it when your lower on HP and the build-up seconds aren't as wasteful.
- Taunt heal a large group of teammates when they need healing to save time.
- Don't bother to taunt heal if there are only a few teammates, you can heal them faster with your medigun.
- Find a safe spot to taunt heal, as during the taunt, you cannot move or attack for about 4 seconds, making you an easy target for anyone who finds you.
- Consider the health regeneration as the main buff; the taunt just doesn't come in handy that much so use the health regeneration to move while healing.
- The taunt has a hefty self-heal rate of about (31 hp/sec), so when you are in your last limb, don't hesitate to taunt.
- This weapon pairs well with the Blood Doctor as its able to heal many players at once while also granting you SuperCharge in the process.
