Blacklung is a map made for the Player Destruction gamemode.
It takes place in a small train station built in a clearing of a forest. The map is symmetrical; both the GRN and RED sides of the map are the exact same. The spawn room is a big loghouse. A series of tunnels give players multiple routes to the middle of the map.
In the middle of the map is an open field, only littered with tree stumps and big boulders. The train station itself is on a raised platform, which can be accessed by two ramps on the ground, or one of the tunnels that lead to the middle of the map.
The points on this map are buckets of coal.
The capture zone on this map is a black train, which has a cart filled with coal behind it. Players must stand on top of this cart to deposit their points and score for their team.
An audio cue will play when the train arrives or leaves. The train will also be highlighted with a white outline to guide players to the capture zone.
Strategy[]
- Blacklung is a very large, open map. So it's practically paradise for Marksmen.
- The capture point is a good area to build a Mechanic's nest. A well placed Sentry will deny the opponents' entry from all angles. If you're a Mechanic, depend on your teammates to distract the enemy while you start building there.
- It will take quite a while to get to the capture point all the way from your spawn room. As a Mechanic, build a Teleporter at spawn (or kindly remind your teammate to build one) to speed things up.
- Blacklung has a lot of hiding places for Agents. Beware if you know an enemy Agent is in your game.
- This map has both a lot of buildings and an open field. Depending on which class you play as, you'll have to force your fights in the right locations. Flankers will favor the indoors, while Trooper's will prefer the outside.
- Because Blacklung is both cramped and sparse, an Annihilator's shield should be the Tide Turner to easily dash through the battlefield.

Trivia[]
- The name "Blacklung" refers to black lung disease, wherein one breathes in too much coal dust and harm their lungs.
- This coincides with points taking the form of buckets of coal.
