[ I am turning up the heat.
―Arsonist preparing to commit several warcrimes.
]

The Flamethrower is the default primary weapon for the Arsonist. It is composed of a team-colored, pistol-shaped trigger, which itself includes a team-colored extendable stock. A set of tubes extend from the trigger, forming a complex route which leads to and from a propane tank. A conical nozzle is seen at the front, with what appears to be a pilot light under it. A team-colored grip is placed underneath and slightly behind it.

When primary fire is pressed, the weapon fires a short-range stream of flame particles at the cost of 12.5 ammo/second. Enemies who make contact with the flame particles are set on fire, taking constant damage; in addition, all classes, except for enemy Arsonists, take afterburn damage for a few seconds after contact.

Pressing secondary fire causes the weapon to release a gush of air, known as an Airblast. This attack deals a set amount of knockback, allowing you to push enemies away; if done on a flaming teammate, it extinguishes them, healing the Arsonist for 50 health. Any enemy projectiles that make contact with the airblast are reflected, dealing mini-crit damage if they weren't already critical projectiles. Each airblast costs 20 ammo, allowing the Arsonist to fire 10 airblasts before needing to restock on ammunition.

Tips

  • The Flamethrower's high damage at point-blank and relatively easy aim make it a powerful tool when fighting groups or at close-range. However, the flame's short-range only makes it useful in close-quarters combat, becoming nigh-useless at range.
    • You'll ideally want to use this for ambushes due to the weapon's short range. Alternatively, you can resort to hit-and-run tactics by setting opponents aflame and running away, letting afterburn weaken them.
    • Try to plan out your routes. Unless you are in very tight corridors or have a Doctor assisting you, simply walking forward into a group of enemies will surely get you killed due to the flame's short range.
  • Don't rely on afterburn alone to finish off opponents. Instead, keep doing damage with your other weapons, preferably your secondary.
  • The airblast makes you a powerful counter to Troopers and Annihilators and the mini-crit effect applied to reflected projectiles serves as a great crowd-control tool. The knockback dealt also makes it a useful way to stop pushes, especially those that involve SuperCharged enemies.
