The Interceptor is a primary weapon for the Arsonist. It takes the appearance of a fighter-bomber plane with an angry facial expression on the front barrel.
It deals guaranteed critical hits when attacking an enemy from behind at the cost of dealing 20% less damage. Like the stock Flamethrower, it restores 50 health upon extinguishing a teammate.
It rewards flanking tactics and punishes the user for mindlessly walking into enemies with its lower damage output.

Tips[]
- If you're using the Interceptor, your playstyle will mimic that of an Agent.
- Just like how she uses her Knife, you deal extreme damage behind enemies, but attacking their front side will barely do anything.
- While hitting from the a foe's back won't immediately kill them, unlike the Agent you have 175 HP, which will give you a lot more chances to shoot flames at their back.
- Speaking of the Agent... the Interceptor makes you a more deadly threat to her.
- Her Icicle may give her resistance to your flames, but if she runs away while her back is turned to you, the crits will still deal hefty damage.
- It will also be easier and faster to kill her if she fakes her death with the Dead Ringer if you shoot flames at her back.
- Remember that the angle to get critical hits is only 135 degrees instead of the Knife's 180 degrees, forcing you to work sneakier in order to deal insane damage.
- If you start fights with your opponent's back turned away from you, try to run around them to reach their back.
- You can temporarily pull out the Escapist's Escapade to make you run faster and then switch back to the Interceptor once you're in their back's range.
- Don't approach them head-on, or the -20% damage penalty will make your efforts go to waste. Instead, start fights with sneak attacks by taking flank routes to position yourself behind your foes.
- If you're having trouble with getting crits with the Interceptor, you can try playing as an Agent to practice how to sneak up on enemies from behind, and then use those newfound skills to use the Interceptor more effectively.
- Alternatively, you can try playing Flanker and use his Perceptionist, which also deals extra damage from behind.

Trivia[]
- This weapon was previously known as the Backburner.
- The current model is based on a piston-engine fighter aircraft from World War II which was known as the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk with a white drop tank. However, the model is elongated and lacks propeller blades.
- The Interceptor's 2018 model was taken from a free model in the Roblox Library called, TF2: BackBurner.
- The 2020 model was actually created on September 5, 2019 as the stock Flamethrower from Team Fortress 2.
- When item levels were initially added on Item Schema, The Interceptor, which was still known as the Backburner at the time, was originally yet jokingly classified as a McDonalds' Happy Meal Flamethrower due to its vibrant colors, making it look like a toy for children.[1]
