An item's quality denotes where an item originates from, and its rarity when compared to other items. They are colored labels granted to weapons, cosmetics, and tools. They serve no other purpose in gameplay and are thus purely ornamental.

Note that though any item can be any quality^[1], each item's respective page will only list qualities that can be/could have been obtained through normal means, excluding developer/contributor exclusive items.

Selling items in certain qualities will exchange varying amounts of funds, ranging from 5 for Unique Weapons to 1060 for Strange Unusual items.

Trivia[]

With the exception of Normal, all hexadecimal codes for each quality are the exact same as their Team Fortress 2 counterparts.
Although this page covers official qualities, developers can still drop items of custom qualities to players.
- Since they are not official qualities, however, their hexadecimal colors are identical to Normal.
Items can have multiple qualities, though the highest-ranking quality will have its hexadecimal color prioritized.
Prior to the Summer 2022 update, Vintage and Genuine were below Strange, just like in Team Fortress 2. This is no longer the case and was likely done to showcase the qualities more often.
