Random Item Drops are a feature that was introduced in the Typical Horrors update. Players have a chance at receiving a random item from the available item pool whenever a round ends, they get a kill, or die.

The round end drop rate is 1 in 60 (1.667%), with it increasing to 1 in 30 (3.333%) if the player scores more than 10 points and the player's team wins. Upon a kill or death, there is a 1 in 3500 (0.0286%) chance to receive a drop.^[1]

Vs. Bosses-exclusive drops were introduced on March 15, 2022. The exact drop rate is not known.

Infection-exclusive drops were introduced on April 6, 2022. After Infection was removed on May 19, 2022, the drops were unobtainable until June 9, 2022 when they were added to the standard drop pool.

When the player receives an item drop, the current class they are playing as will play a random "Cheers" voice line and a notification on the left side of the player's screen showing which weapon they have received^[2], as well as an announcement of the item in the in-game chat box.

Strange Weapons[]

It is possible to receive certain weapons and cosmetics in Strange quality. Originally, being able to obtain duplicates of the same item in Strange quality was a bug, but has since been intentionally kept to allow for the creation of Collector's quality items.

Reskin Weapons[]

Certain weapons have reskins available via the item drop system. All reskins have a unique model, sound effects, and projectiles (when applicable) with a few exceptions, which will be labeled as so.

Reskin weapons via random items drops will always be in Genuine-quality, excluding the Rising Sun Katana.

Golden Weapons[]

Golden weapons were added to the Item drop pool on December 3, 2021 for a short amount of time to celebrate the 6th anniversary of Typical Colors 2, Golden weapons were traditionally manually given to players by the developers. However, if the Golden weapons are received from the random drop, it will be broadcasted in the global announcement under the name "The Golden Weapons".

Golden Weapons have since appeared for every anniversary, appearing as extremely rare item drops for the duration of the anniversary.
