The Lantern Lighter is a primary weapon for the Arsonist. It is a soiled-green flamethrower, a blackened barrel and nozzle with a blue flame sticking out of the propane torch. The fuel magazine has a distinctive decal displaying a red fire with numbers labeling, "A08-1".
Its afterburn damage and duration are increased by 50% and 20%, respectively, which makes it an effective weapon to stop a push by forcing your opponent to retreat else they risk dying very quickly, in exchange however, you deal 50% less damage when directly attacking players with the primary fire.
It's designed around being a great combo weapon when used right alongside weapons like the Flare Gun and Thousand Degree Axe, but heavily punishes you for not using it correctly. Due to its damage penalty, it's a bad weapon to use when fighting against enemy Arsonists or other afterburn-immune targets such as Agents with the Icicle or Marksmen with the Turtle Rock.
The direct damage penalty makes the weapon harder to use than normal, and players have a multitude of ways to put themselves out, whether it be with with health kits scattered around the map, enemy Doctors and Arsonists, supportive Flankers with Mad Milk, and Marksmen with Lemonade, to name some. If you intend to kill people using just afterburn, make sure health kits are out of the question first.

Tips
- Due to its poor burst damage capabilities, it is best to play more defensively.
- Its longer afterburn time can make it good for checking for enemy Agents.
- Because of its longer afterburn duration, it is good to combo with it with the Flare Gun or Detonator.
- It can also be good to combo with the Thousand Degree Axe to give you more time to attack, and the 1000 Degree Axe for longer regen.
