Tips[]

- The Maxine favors a more aggressive and offensive playstyle for the Brute, and punishes a defensive one.
- The speed and mobility of the Maxine places the Brute above his normal movement speed, allowing him to catch up to enemies easier and dish out more damage. Meanwhile on defence, moving forward to deal a bit more damage can leave you out of position and leaves you more vulnerable, especially without a team to back you up.
- The speed also allows him to collect dropped ammo from dead players, giving him 75 more ammo, and keeping him in the fight for longer. Defensively, the speed boost can allow you to strafe and dodge more effectively than the stock Minigun, but once again, trying to collect dropped ammo boxes would be a death sentence.
- This weapon is most optimal choice for a "Fat Flankering" playstyle, thanks to the extra mobility it provides. You can the Maxine to move around the map faster and close the distance between you and your enemies, while you use your Shotgun to deal damage.
- Your secondary choice can significantly effect how you play and move with this weapon, allowing you to keep pressure on the enemy team in various ways, however, there are 2 main secondaries you would be using.
- The Dire Donut is one side of the secondaries. It's ability to give you 75 ammo back in 2 seconds, as well as the halved regen rate, allows you to retreat for 3/4 seconds, eat, and quickly jump back. The issue being that this is a fast paced game, and 3/4 seconds could be the difference between winning and loosing a point or even the game. A similar issue is when you are revved for a couple seconds, the accuracy increases, and the damage nearly doubles, so un-revving to eat makes you loose that accuracy and double damage for a while.
- The Shotgun (and their variants) is the other the side of the secondaries. Instead of topping you back up and letting you use the Maxine for longer, you stay in the fight, and keep supporting the team for longer, until it's safe for you to go back and collect ammo. The shotguns are generally a good choice, you can protect yourself while moving around, not needing to completely rely on the Maxine , and can still be a good close up weapon if you have ran out of ammo, since you can deal high bursts of damage, and can collect some dropped ammo boxes from players that have died. Despite the not being able to collect ammo from Dispensers (and Payload carts), switching from your Maxine to the Shotgun can quickly refill your primary, while you're still able to defend yourself with your secondary.
- Like the secondaries, your choice in melees can effect your gameplay, with the choice of mobility and self sustainability in your hands.
- Pair this weapon with the likes of the Speed Coil to always be a mobile threat, allowing you to always be above your expected movement speed, and can mess with the muscle memory of projectile classes like Troopers and Annihilators. You can quickly move around with the Speed Coil to get in the good area, then use the Maxine to further adjust while in a fight. And if you were to run out of ammo, you can quickly run away and collect ammo, and arrive back to continue fighting. Just be wary of the Marked For Death you receive for having the weapon equipped, if caught of guard, you can loose a significant amount of health in a short period.
- You could use this with the Fists of Steel to protect yourself when you've ran out of ammo, giving yourself a 40% resistance to ranged weapons, allowing you to tank more damage as you run to safety, to collect more ammo and top up on health. However the slower deploy and holster speed can leave you more vulnerable while trying to escape, and be wary of any melee wielding classes, you take 3x more damage from melees.

Trivia[]
- The concept name was Ironclad and was originally intended for use as a distinct weapon with unique stats.
- It was intended to fire sluggish, yet extremely powerful projectiles at a slow rate of fire. Its ammunition reserves would also be relatively miniscule to compensate for this increased damage.
- The model is based on the historical river ironclad known as the USS Monitor. Monitor is known for participating in the first ever battle between ironclads, as well as for being the first turreted ship to see combat.
