The Phlogistinator is a primary weapon for the Arsonist. It is a modified team-colored flamethrower with a can-like object that it uses as a magazine and has a blowtorch below the barrel.
When dealing damage with any weapon, it will build up an 'Energy' meter that requires 300 damage to fill. Once the meter is full, taunting will grant the user 8 seconds of guaranteed critical hits.
The weapon does not inflict afterburn and airblasting does not extinguish teammates. Additionally, airblasting destroys projectiles rather than reflecting them. There is an unlisted attribute where airblast cannot push enemies.

Tips[]
- Despite the Phlogistinator not having the conventional airblast feature of other flamethrowers, do not ignore the fact that airblast still remove projectiles. It can come in handy when facing a barrage of rockets and pipes.
- As your primary weapon is now severely underpowered compared to its contemporaries, it is best to rely on a Shotgun of your choice, at least until your 'Energy' meter is fully charged.
- Much like the Interceptor, it's better to play as a pick class and utilize flank routes to get the drop on enemies, as you are much weaker without the luxury of afterburn.
- Paired with the Fire Extinguisher, you can completely negate the "Airblast cannot extinguish teammates" as your melee can remove every debuff from teammates, including afterburn.

- Stickybombs cannot be destroyed via airblast if they're stuck to a surface.
Trivia[]
- This weapon previously had no taunt animation.
- Even though this weapon completely lacks any afterburn damage, enemies hit by the weapon will still yell their "On Fire" voice lines.
- Along with that, weapons that have fire resistances, such as the Tide Turner will still make their "damage blocking" sound effect.
