Smog is a map made for the King of the Hill gamemode that takes place at RED and GRN warehouses near a harbor.
Locations[]
Green/Red Spawn[]
Players spawn in a mostly empty room with some props with two supply cabinets near two doors up front.
Upfront Lot[]
Exiting spawn, there are three routes to reach the main area. The rightmost one (exiting from spawn) leads to the team's garage. The middle path leads directly to the control point. The leftmost path leads to a rooftop, helpful for good sight lines on the point, useful for Marksman.
Garage[]
Entering from spawn places players on top of a van, with three more team branded vans. There are two doors leading to the Warehouse and the point. There is a medium health kit and ammo kit in the garage.
Middle Route[]
Contains two routes, one to the control point and the other to the rooftop. There is a medium health kit and ammo kit on the right (entering from spawn).
Rooftop[]
The rooftop has a sightline on the majority of the map. From the rooftop, players can go to the Warehouse or to the control point. There is a small health kit to the right. It is an ideal place to stand for Marksman, but is susceptible to rocket jumping Troopers, sticky jumping Annihilators, being sniped by an enemy Marksmen or being flanked.
Warehouse[]
The warehouse is a place where a lot of side fights will happen or be used for height advantage. Going upfront will lead to a medium health kit and ammo plus going to the enemy spawn, the left is the control point, and the right is a rowboat with a medium health kit upon it. Returning to the warehouse will require jumping on a platform back onto land, and missing the jump will result in death.
Point[]
The point is the main battlefield, an open area being vulnerable to Marksmen or Flankers. Players are able to capture the point here, or retreat to the middle route, go back to the Garage, or (by jumping on some shipping containers) back to the Warehouse. There are medium ammo kits and health kits around the point.
Tips[]
- Players can use the Warehouse crates on the left or right of the point to gain a height advantage on their enemy. This is especially useful against Troopers or Annihilators without Stickybomb Launchers.
- Alternatively, it is an effective position for Trooper and Annihilator with a Stickybomb Launcher to be in for combat.
- As a Marksman the Rooftop is one of the most useful spots for sniping however be aware of its weaknesses.
- Players vulnerable to rocket jumping Troopers, sticky jumping Annihilators, getting headshot by an enemy Marksman or being flanked.
- As a Flanker the Garage to the Warehouse route is the best path for flanking and 1v1s, which he specializes in.
- Marksmen can use the Camper's Climber to quickly get to the Rooftop.
- Same applies to Troopers and Annihilators with blast jumping.
- As Mechanic, take advantage of the large amount of medium ammo packs. The point is one of the best sources of metal on the map since there is a rock in front of a medium ammo kit and one next to the middle route.
- Although there is a fair amount of protection around the point, be careful since one is still in the middle of the map. It is risky to get metal from the point.
