―Marksman
]

The Sour Shots is a primary weapon for the Marksman. It is a sleek, single-shot dart gun with a team-colored body fitted with a scope, stock, and muzzle end. A lemonade is placed in a pipe between the main body and the stock.

This weapon charges 25% faster compared to any other sniper rifles, and a scoped hit douses opponents in lemonade. The amount of time enemies are doused depends on the amount of charge, with a minimum of two seconds and a maximum of eight seconds at a full charge. Headshots or fully-charged shots cause an explosion of Lemonade and shots can extinguish teammates if they are on fire.

However, this utility comes at a cost of a 10% slower reload speed and headshots only dealing critical hits against enemies under the lemonade effect, reducing the overall damage and depending on more assists to finish off targets.

Like all sniper rifles other than the Poacher's Pride, this weapon deals 20% less damage if the user hits an enemy that is less than 40 studs away from the user.

Tips[]

  • The Sour Shots rifle is actually a utility weapon. This means that it's a weapon that sacrifices its own reliability to allow the other weapons in your arsenal to deal some serious damage.
    • While you can debuff enemies with Lemonade from a far distance, the requirements to secure kills (especially headshots) becomes significantly harder.
    • On the bright side, the Lemonade debuff that the Sour Shots give to enemies can help teammates to kill them easily through mini-crits.
  • Remember than once an enemy has been debuffed by you, you can land a headshot on them and secure the kill like the stock Sniper Rifle.
  • Look for teammates who are currently in the middle of a fight. If you shoot the enemy they're fighting to make them vulnerable to mini-crits, you can help your teammate get the upper hand!
    • You can also shoot at your teammates to get rid of their afterburn, should there be any.
  • Remember that headshots or fully-charged body shots will make a splash of Lemonade, which will not only debuff your target, but also enemies that were near your target!
    • This especially works against a Doctor that's pocketing a teammate.
    • This also works if you shoot one enemy pushing the cart in Payload, as everyone on the cart will get debuffed.
    • The more your Sour Shots were charged before you shot, the longer the debuff lasts for. Especially if your shot splashes onto nearby enemies.
    • Even if you hit a weak shot, your target will still get debuffed by themselves, so it should still be a personal win in your book.
  • Your MAC-10 and Suppressed Solution become a lot more powerful when paired with the Sour Shots.
    • The MAC-10 is a reliable backup weapon due to its high fire rate, with a maximum of 140 damage per second with the mini-crits.
    • The Suppressed Solution is a situational alternative. Damaging and/or killing enemies with the already coated in Lemonade makes it easier to fill the charge meter, which, when full, allows the Marksman to continue dealing mini-crit damage should the target survive the initial burst.
  • Your other option for a secondary is the Lemonade, but it's a very situational weapon. Take time to consider...
    • When you throw out the Lemonade, you can immdiately follow up with a few headshots, as doused enemies can now be headshotted and immediately killed.
    • On the other hand, it would be redundant if you equipped this, since the Sour Shots already debuffs enemies and doesn't have a 12 second-cooldown.
    • The Sour Shots can also debuff enemies from a far distance, while the Lemonade can only travel so far.
  • The Lemoblade is a great pair for the Sour Shots, especially if rocket-jumping Troopers or sticky-jumping Annihilators are a constant problem.
    • If an enemy sneaks up on you, you can easily hit them with an unscoped shot, then use the Lemoblade and deal critical hits.
  • The Sour Shots make you a deadly counter to Agents, as your long-range debuff shots will temporarily reveal where they are if cloaked or disguised.
    • This means you can safely track down and kill Agents from your hiding spot. That's very convenient!
    • Any attacks on doused Agents will more or less bypass her damage resistances given by her disguise or cloak, thanks to the Lemomade's mini-crits.
    • If you can't finish the job, alert Arsonists on your team can quickly kill doused Agents.
  • When facing off against another Marksman with a different primary weapon, never approach him head-on; he can kill you quickly with an uncharged headshot while you have to wait a few seconds before killing him.
    • Try to take aim when the enemy Marksman is busy or distracted; as he is a threat to your team, it is your job to deal with him.
