Redirects are simple but powerful, and massively cut down on the amount of work a wiki needs to do to update something. When someone browsing the wiki finds themselves on a redirect page, they will be taken to the page the page redirects to. Pages that redirect to a redirect page are known as "double redirects". Redirects work in any namespace, and across any namespace, i.e. Editor's Crunch redirects to Typical Colors 2 Wiki:Editor's Crunch. The only namespace-dependent restriction is that double redirects don't work in the file namespace. After using a redirect, a link to the redirect page will appear underneath the title.

Usage[]

On the first line of a page, write the following:

#REDIRECT [[Page to redirect to]]

When attempting to move a page, there is an option to leave a redirect on the page the content is leaving. Generally, this option should be enabled unless there are plans to move another page to where it was.

Why Use Redirects?[]

Redirects should be used to help prospective Wiki Users find what they are looking for. For example, Robocop links to Exploit Eliminator. This is because the Exploit Eliminator is what makes players Robocop, but this is not inherently obvious.

For another example, Secret code links to Achievements. This is because 'Secret Code' is one of the top 10 searched for terms on the Wiki, mostly from new users who are not familiar that it is both an achievement, and where to find the code itself.

Lastly, redirects can be used to clear up File: namespace confusion. One example is how File:Placeholder links to File:Placeholder.png. This is because previously by default, Fandom created an autogenerated user page for all new users, that included the File:Placeholder link. However, this causes a broken file link, as there is no file on the wiki with the name File:Placeholder. Because of this, File:Placeholder links to the placeholder image used in TC2, and primarily on the wiki, instead.
