The Wrangler is a secondary weapon for the Mechanic. It is an Atari 2600 controller with a team-colored button and analog stick with an angled wooden foregrip attached to the bottom and with a satellite dish in front.
When a sentry is controlled, it gains an unserviceable shield and a laser pointer that follows the user's crosshair. Clicking/holding M1 will shoot bullets from the sentry and clicking M2 will shoot rockets if controlling a level 3 sentry. Unequipping the Wrangler will disable the sentry for a second.
The range that the user can shoot doesn't have a limit, so shooting enemies across the map is practical as bullets from wrangled sentries don't have damage fall-off or bullet spread.
The user can use the Wrangler while taunting.

Tips[]
- You'll be more efficient with the Wrangler if your melee is the Gunslinger. The Mini-Sentry shoots incredibly fast and can easily be built again if it gets destroyed.
- If your Sentry gets destroyed but you got good damage, use your Shotgun to finish them off.
- Just like a Marksman, enemies will know you're using the Wrangler if they see the laser. So don't pull it out until you see an enemy.
- You can use the Wrangler to choose certain targets, like the Doctor who is healing a Brute or a disguised enemy Agent.
- Because the Wrangler makes you aim at only what's in front of you, Agents will have an easier time sneaking up for a backstab.
- The Wrangler's damage is reliant on how close/far the player themselves is to the enemy, rather than the sentry.
- You can perform a rocket jump with the Wrangler by using rockets from a level 3 sentry to get farther distances. (But be careful, as the blast damage from the rockets and the fall damage will leave you very close to death.)

Trivia[]
- This weapon was previously tested in the CTE server.
- There was a bug where the Wrangler wasn't able to shoot if the user is not pointing at an object.
- The Wrangler can be mini-crit boosted but can not be crit boosted.
- Since Marksman's sniper rifles use the same laser as the Wrangler, they can control the sentry if the Mechanic happens to have one of the rifles in Randomizer.[1]
